John Rommel Business Development
Manager Matrics Inc.
|
John Rommel is no
stranger to the data collection industry. A
thirteen year Auto ID veteran he has worked for
some of the industry’s top companies and been
involved in a myriad of projects touching
numerous industries: retail, automotive,
manufacturing, healthcare, and pharmaceutical to
name just a few.In his nine years at Symbol
Technologies – the world’s largest supplier of
integrated bar code, RF, and handheld computer
solutions – he identified RFID as an emerging
technology early on and was the lead on one of
Symbol’s first RFID installations: a parts
warranty tracking application for Amtrak.
Leaving Symbol to become the Americas Sales
Director for TAGSYS, a French based manufacturer
of 13.56 MHz passive systems, John entered the
world of RFID full time and guided that
company’s efforts in the installation of RFID
systems at Seattle Public Library, Disney World,
Ford, etc. He finally joined industry leader
Matrics in 2003 and is focused on managing the
company’s supply chain partnerships.
"It’s been amazing to see the
transformation of RFID in just the past few
years," John says. "What recently was a niche
technology has quickly become mainstream. The
ratification of standards and the introduction
of performance breaking new products, like those
from Matrics, have finally made RFID cost
effective for most firms. Those companies that
invested in it early are seeing the returns and
are certainly better positioned to meet their
upcoming supply chain challenges."
John also is a published
author with his second book, Build A
Profitable Reseller Channel due to be
released later this year.
Based in Columbia, Maryland,
Matrics is breaking new ground with patented
radio frequency identification (RFID)
technologies that revolutionize supply chain
management and real-time asset tracking. Matrics
RFID systems are 5 times faster, have a more
powerful read range, cost far less, and are
easier to install than anything on the market
today.
Until recently, the use of
RFID technology in data collection and logistics
tracking has been limited. Available systems
typically have close read ranges, limited
numbers of simultaneous reads, and suffer from
poor data transfer rates.
Matrics systems address the
three main elements of the supply chain:
logistics automation, inventory management and
asset visibility to provide these benefits:
- Companies can have instant information on
the location and dispensation of products and
assets to make astute tactical decisions.
- Manufacturers can manage parts inventories
in real-time to streamline production and
utilize working capital more efficiently with
automatic confirmation of incoming and outgoing
shipments.
- Retailers can conduct instant store
inventories to reduce shrinkage and operating
costs, plus document customer needs and buying
patterns by store to plan assortment
optimization.
